Upcoming Lotta Schelin music release!
Via Masked Singer and a stage musical, football icon Lotta Schelin is about to release her first song.
– It feels surreal, but at the same time it’s very, very fun.
Football icon Lotta Schelin has three Champions League titles and holds the Swedish national team goal record with 88 goals. On May 22th, she will be releasing the song I segrar som vinns (In victories won) from the musical Så länge bollen rullar (As long as the ball is rolling)!
In 2025, Lotta Schelin made her debut as a musical artist as the character Nina in the musical written by David Oest and Martin Johansson. It highlights the lack of gender equality in football. After six performances at Lorensbergsteatern in Gothenburg, it is now time to release a first song from the musical.
– In victories won is about an awakening for my role character Nina. From the beginning, when the new women’s coach joins the club, she believes everything is working quite well and that there is no point in arguing about inequalities. But in the end she understands that change is possible and that there is joy in the victories that are won for a more equal football and, by extension, a more equal society, says Lotta, who during the spring has also worked with the initiative Sluta sluta (Stop stop), an inspiration day for sports girls aged 12-15 that aims to get more people to stay in club life.
Lotta Schelin believes that gender equality work is progressing in sports, but that it is work that is going far too slowly. She has many examples from her career where it has become clear that things are wrong and need to get better.
Lotta, who was performed in the Swedish edition of Masked Singer as the character The Joker in 2020, has never recorded music in a studio before and found it a fun and educational process.
– I’m always curious about new projects and like to work across boundaries. Seeing how you build a song from scratch, how much work is needed for just four minutes of music, it’s been exciting to see. But I have to admit that it feels a little scary to let others hear it. But mostly it’s a crazy and fun thing. I think the song is very good, so it feels right to release it.
I segrar som vinns, which will be released on all streaming platforms on May 22, is written by David Oest and Martin Johansson, and was recorded at Rabbit Hole studios in Slätthult outside Gothenburg. Johan Ludvig Rask has added drums and guitars and produced. Other musicians are:
